I got a bag of a Trader’s Joes version of chex mix not too long ago and the kids wouldn’t touch it. Maybe they thought it was spicy or just didn’t recognize their favorite snacks in there. So undeterred I figured I would just make one with stuff they like and that I already have in the cupboard. Cereals, nuts, any kind of crunchy cracker or snack and the best part is you can leave out the things you would usually eat around. For me no pretzels…

Zesty Snack “Chex” Mix

about 9 cups of snacks make your own mix

(I used 4 cups rice chex and 1 cup each of peanuts, kix, cheerios, cheddar rockets and sesame sticks)

6 tablespoons unsalted butter melted

1/3 cup worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon granulated garlic

1 1/2 tablespoons seasoned salt (not table salt!)

(I used 3/4 tbs Tajin and 3/4 tbs Paul Prudommes Seafood Magic)

Combine your snacks in a large bowl. Preheat oven to 250.

Combine the rest of your ingredients in a small bowl and slowly pour into snacks. Mix using a soft spatula so you don’t break up the goodies.

Bake for 1 hour stirring every 15 minutes.
